For over 160 years, Pyrenex has been producing quite possibly the finest natural down in the world from their home, close to the French Pyrenees. Experts in their field, their garments have been tried and tested on some of the worlds highest mountain ranges by mountaineers and us normal folk for many years.
The 'Down Overshirt' is a style based on an old Universal Works favourite, the 'Cabin Jacket'- a low-profile, collarless, rail-workers style jacket with a simple four press-stud front, and simple patch front pockets.
The outer shell for this 'Down Overshirt' has a soft, peached taffeta surface with a matte finish and is water-repellant. The garment is filled with an ethically sourced feather/down insulation and has a laboratory defined 'fill power' of 850 cui/lb. The fill power of a garment represents the 'loft' of the fill used and is loosely related to the insulating properties of the garment, which is measured from 300cui/lb - 900cui/lb. That's tech speak for: this garment is very light and very warm!
